After full stripdown and rebuild with new seals etc, I need to test the toolchanger on my Tree CNC lathe. It weighs a ton and I want to be fairly certain it works without leaking before it goes back on the machine. High pressure hydraulic fluid would make a mess if it got out and about, so compressed air it is.
First event is release of the locking piston, forcing the turret off its locking pins and then rotating the turret using the hydraulic motor. It just about manages to do that with 4 bar. Then I de-energise the solenoid and engage the locking detent manually which then allows the turret to be pulled against its locking pins at the correct position when I apply the air. Normally there's an 8 way switch to tell the solenoid when to switch states but I'm having to operate it manually at this stage.
