Douglas Phillips demonstrates how to throw various lids off the hump (or lump as it's sometimes called). Throwing small items off the hump is a quick and effective method. Douglas also demonstrates how to cut the finished item off using a length of thread.

I’ve taken several videos at Ridge Pottery Summer Schools. The demonstrations are informal, often impromptu, and show a particular making technique and/or illustrate elements of a pot’s shape, form and function. As well as the demonstration there is often discussion with students that lend the videos an informal quality which (I think) adds to their interest and enjoyment.
