RomaOstia Half Marathon, the half marathon in Rome.
03/03/2024
More than 10,000 people gathered at the starting line of the Eurospin RomaOstia Half Marathon, now in its 49th edition, organised by GSBRun in partnership with RCS Sports & Events. The event was characterised by acceptable weather conditions, no rain but plenty of wind along the entire course connecting Rome to the sea.
There was no shortage of competition at RomaOstia, which provided, as always, a hard-fought and exciting race for all.
Victory in the men’s category went to Kenyan Emmanuel Wafula, who proved all his class during a very long sprint over Ethiopian Teshager Bayelign Yezgaw, who was beaten by just one second: 1h01.10 for the winner against 1h01.11 for the runner-up. The other Kenyan Kimakal Kipsambu completed the podium with a time of 1h01.20, his new personal best.
Kenyan Mary Ngugi did not disappoint and won in 1h07.38, preceding, at the end of an incredible final progression, the very young, not yet 20-year-old Ethiopian Tekle Mulat Godu, at her debut over this distance. The latter stopped the clock at 1h07.41. Caroline Korir came third in 1h09.01.
Rebecca Lonedo (FiammeOro) was the first Italian woman to cross the finish line, eighth position for her with a time of 1h11.23.
