This seminar covers an introduction to the exotic ninja tool called shuko, or hand claws. Although it is often seen in the movies, this tool is rarely taught as it was only used in very specialized circumstances in history. In this seminar, we look at the historical uses and how the shuko could turn from a climbing tool into a hidden combat weapon. To-Shin Do unarmed principles can be amplified in many ways using this tool. James Kentoshi Norris looks at a variety of unarmed attacks and demonstrates how the shuko could be used against a sword, and how the movies usually get it wrong. He also covers how these same shuko principles could be used in modern self-defense with keys or other items.
