Paul Romero and Adam Lopez squared off to protect their unblemished records Sunday, July 30, on PBC on FS1. But as the saying goes, somebody's 0 has got to go.
Both fighters were active throughout the fight. Lopez was the more aggressive fighter in RD1, finding a home with his uppercut. Behind his jab he put together combinations with precision. He followed one punch by another, keeping his distance and pressing forward.
Paul Romero showed flashed of power as well, landing lighting fast hooks early on in round 2. Later in the round, Lopez caught Romero with a cross that buckled his opponents knees. Romero was hurt, but he survived round 2.
As the fights progressed, Adam Lopez became more active. He landed a cross in the opening minute of the third, hurting Romero again momentarily.
The two fighters would exchange punches, Romero landing sneaky hooks, while Lopez would suffocate his opponent with a flurry of fists.
Romero showed he had a chin and could box, but he just didn't have enough to prove he was the better fighter. One judge saw it as a draw, while the other two saw the fight in Adam Lopez's favor.
Lopez wins by UD and remains UD, moving to 8-0-0 in the featherweight division.
