John Sandlos examines the social, environmental, and economic consequences and impacts of abandoned mines in Northern Canada. He focuses on the long-term legacies of these mines, particularly of Giant Mine. The latter was a large-scale gold mine that has left the local native communities with the problematic dealings of arsenic in the air and environment.
