How To Get Color Index Number in Excel
Changing cell color is easy in excel. Just select the cell, and go to the Home tab. You can choose the cell color and done from the fill color dropdown. But do you know the color index number you just used? In plain words, the color index number means the code of the color. Whenever we use VBA and color, a color index number is required. In this advanced excel tutorial, we will learn to create a custom function in excel, and we’ll also learn to get the color index number of any cell.
1. Click on the developer and click on visual basic.

2. Now click insert and then module

4. Save the workbook in .xlsm format
5. Now, you can use this just like a function in excel.
6. Write =GetColorIndex(A1) and press enter. It will show you the color index number of cell A1.
