STORYLINE
Flash floods in northwestern Turkey forced the evacuation of residents from their homes in the township of Kumbag on Saturday night.
Rescue workers used military vehicles as well as bulldozers to evacuate residents from their flooded homes in Kumbag.
The heaviest rains in eight decades fuelled flash floods that have killed at least 31 people in Turkey since Monday.
Nine other people are still missing from floods earlier this week.
Torrential rains also triggered floods elsewhere in the region on Saturday in Istanbul's Sariyer and Kilyos suburbs.
Torrential rains also triggered floods elsewhere in the region Saturday and in Istanbul's Sariyer and Kilyos suburbs, causing at least one bridge to collapse near the town of Kesan on the Greek border and inundating dozens of homes in Istanbul.
Flood victims spoke of their grief and the damage to their properties.
"I prayed to god at the very last moment and we managed to survive. My husband told us to go to the back of the house. And we along with our baby managed to survive," said one lady.
Earlier in the night, about 200 workers at tile and brick factories were also evacuated by helicopter.
Flood waters had receded and rescue officials were working to evacuate a small number of workers left at the factories near the town of Kumbag, the Governor of
Tekirdag province said. He denied earlier media reports that five workers went missing.
