Today's rowing programs consist of athletes from a wide spectrum of ages, abilities and gender, religious, and racial identities that rarely talk to each other about important topics like race relations in America. In this hour session, we will tackle the uncomfortable conversation around race and racism. Becoming an ant-iracist involves developing the historical, sociological, and racial literacy needed to decode the ongoing impact of the racial past on the present. Participants will gain skills to better understand the variety of perspectives, experiences, world-views and differences that a diverse and inclusive rowing program will present.
