Why do Chinese give red packets
The tradition of giving red packets during Chinese New Year symbolizes Good Luck.
we do have rules for giving the red packets. Married couples (both still around) will give 2 packets and single parents will give 1. money in red packets will be in even numbers but avoid 4 as it sounds like die in Cantonese. No white packets please as this is use to give condolence money.
