A great thing about the 21st century is there is now much more emphasis about looking good when dual sport riding, rather than actually being good at something like adventure riding. This is great news for many of us dual sport motorbike riders when our riding not only sucks, but blows as well. Stand out from the adventure riding crowd. Dress to win. Go from zero to hero with our riding gear. Ooo baby. So sexy. There is no need to actually ride. Impress other riders at the coffee shop with your body positioning. Be the adventure riding king of bling, and the queen of sheen, with our accessories. Check out our man bag. And our unique hydration formula. When on the best will do. There are a lot of cashed up dual sport baby boomers buying motorbikes and motorbike gear nowadays. Often they are re entry riders, getting back into the sport after a few decades off to raise families or get careers established. Others are into it for the first time. And often they have serious cash to burn. Or at least big credit limits. When you look at the cost of some adventure riding gear, you have to wonder if we are spending more that we need to. If you do your dual sport riding research, you will probably find you get more protection as you spend more. But sometimes you might be paying for a fancy name. And when you look at the tag it is has been made in China for a fraction of the retail cost. A few years back, we did a video that discussed whether it's important to look good when riding a dirt bike. It went something like this. There were some fascinating replies. Some riders said it was important to look good because then they felt good, and they believed then they would ride better. There were beginner riders saying this. And also pro riders, like Colton Haaker. On the other hand, there were riders who deliberately dressed down. They liked wearing half worn out ratty riding gear. And if it wasn't specifically motorbike gear then that was even better. They tended to criticise anyone wearing the latest and greatest. Me? I figure it is whatever turns you on. And whatever suits your budget. Personally I like to stick to a strict budget and keep things simple. But if someone has plenty of cash and they get a lot of enjoyment from wearing expensive gear and riding expensive bikes then more power to them. Even if you have no plans to develop your riding skills or get out there for some serious adventures. I think our sport is big and ugly enough to accept everyone's preferences.
