A bare root fruit tree is a normal fruit tree that has been dug up and shipped while still dormant. This allows the trees to be shipped less expensively, and planted more easily! Because the tree needs to be dormant, the window for purchasing and planting is limited. If planned for, a bare root tree can establish faster, and often have high success just because the tree has been allowed to break dormancy in its new home, minimizing shock.
