A new report has found New York nursing homes have wildly under reported its COVID-19 related deaths by up to 50 per cent.
The report carried out by the state's Attorney General Letitia James showed some nursing homes lacked proper PPE and testing.
The state’s official death count before the report was up to 8,000 but there were suspicions at the time that the real figure was much higher.
Governor Cuomo’s decision to let COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes “may have put residents at increased risk of harm" - according to the investigation.
It comes just a few days after Mr Cuomo told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace that Donald Trump’s “incompetent government” was responsible for COVID deaths in his state.
