Birth control pills are of different types. They are traditionally what are called “the pill”. These are the combined oral contraceptive pill which has two hormones, estrogen and progesterone. The other type of birth control pills are a single hormone birth control pills, which contain only one hormone, that is progesterone which can be used on a regular basis and most commonly nowadays it is used as an emergency pill or morning after pills. The birth control pills, particularly the combined pills, they also come in different types of pills, the one which have a constant level of hormones which come in a packet of 21 tablets. There are other packages available where there are continuous pills, that mans the packages come with 28 pills that involves no break from the periods and the women needs to take it everyday throughout her menstrual cycle and there are something called as sequential pills. So these pills will be mostly prescribed to you by a gynaecologist which you are going to consult for a prescription of birth control pills. The progesterone only pills, something called as cerazette, which is used for a regular contraception, this also needs to be prescribed by a gynecologist, whereas an emergency pill, that is an I pill or unwanted 72, can be available as an emergency over the counter at the pharmacy. These pills would be used as early as possible. There are different types of birth control pills which can be used as an emergency pill only.
