Encouraging swimmers to understand streamlining and weight shift and the important 'timing and coordination' of a crucial 'sweet spot'. Capturing the inertia of the recovery arm, allow gravity to do its work in creating effortless propulsion - a great feeling!
There are some moments here when I over rotate, and I can feel that when I swim. A slight tendency over reach due to a looser side of my body (linked to slight scoliosis), I can feel its harder to control that side of my body!
The outcomes we are are trying to achieve here for any swimmer, are to move towards optimal conversion of wingspan into forward propulsion, thereby lowering SPL; decreasing energy waste, instead increase energy supply - as humans are only 3 % efficient in the water. The mechanics are scalable and allow the swimmer to achieve easy speed with an increase in tempo of the whole stroke, rather than by arbitrary increases in pulling 'speed' and 'pressure' which for most adult onset swimmers are unsustainable and deteriorating.
