Uniontown Country Club is set in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about a little over an hour southeast of Pittsburgh, PA. The club traces its history to 1908, but the current golf course there dates to 1921 and was designed by Emil "Dutch" Loeffler and John McGlynn. The layout hasn't changed much since then and was faithfully restored by Ron Forse Golf Design in the 2010s.
Loeffler started his golf career at the age of 10 as a caddie at the prestigious Oakmont Country Club. He went on to become the caddiemaster at age 17 and eventually became the course superintendent, succeeding his future design partner, McGlynn. Loeffler served as Oakmont superintendent from 1916 to 1947 and was instrumental in assisting W.C. Fownes (son of course designer Henry Clay Fownes) with building Oakmont into the fierce test of tournament golf it's known as today.
