Hi and welcome to this short video on how to set up viewports and print in AutoCAD.
To set up prints we need to go into paper space. Right click on the tab at the bottom of the screen to rename. Click on tab to take you into paper space.
Go to File, page setup, then select your printer and the size of paper you want to print.
You can also select various plot styles which we will cover in this video. Click OK, then close.
Now create a border around our paper (you can also set up templates for this).
To create a viewport, go to viewports layer or create one, right click on layer, layer status and de-select print (this allows you to see the viewport line on your screen, however when you print it won't show). Go to view tab at the top of screen, viewports and then insert your viewports.
Double click in the viewport, then click the scale you want down the bottom and click padlock to lock view.
To switch off layers in other viewports, double click in the viewport and then go to the layer you want to switch off, find the rectangle with the snowflake. This is why layers are so important, especially larger drawings to save time.
Now time to print our drawing.....go to File tab, print....this is where you can preview the drawing before printing or you can go straight to plot.
Thanks a million for watching!
