In this video, we are exploring a technique to support the bottom of large flat pottery forms while trimming on the potter's wheel. With this method I leave the bottom of the form the exact thickness I want in the finished pottery without unnecessary trimming. I do shape the sides and ready the form of the pottery to accept a finished foot. But then we throw an extruded foot without warping by supporting the bottom of the form. This Technique works great on plates and large platters and bowls, giving a very precise and finished looking foot.
