Here I compare the forehand of @domithiem to @corsin.st:
•
Amateur players who are looking to improve their forehands will benefit greatly from the “2-1-2 Formula”. The numbers simply indicate how many hands are on the racket.
•
When taking the racket back for the unit turn, keep both hands on.
•
Then when using the “C” swing, obviously let go and hit with one hand.
•
Last, finish by catching the racket high over your shoulder.
•
The reason I teach this is because it helps prevent the nonhitting arm from dropping and becoming a counter weight. If you’ve ever seen someone hitting forehands and they look like they’re hogging themselves this is the cause. The nonhitting arm dropping during contact is a big problem and only gets worse as the player improves. So make sure you or your students keep this arm up during contact (asking them to catch the racket is a great way to prevent the arm from dropping).
