Pancreatic cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, which makes it difficult to diagnose. As the cancer grows and spreads, it may cause the following symptoms:
1. Abdominal pain
2. Jaundice
3. Weight loss
4. Loss of appetite
5. Nausea and vomiting
6. Fatigue
7. New onset diabetes
Pancreatic cancer is a challenging disease to diagnose and treat.
Investigations for pancreatic cancer typically involve imaging tests like CT scans, MRI, or endoscopic ultrasound, along with blood tests to assess tumor markers like CEA and Ca19-9.
A definitive diagnosis is made through a biopsy. Treatment options for pancreatic cancer depend on the stage and extent of the disease. Surgical resection is the primary treatment for localized tumors, followed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
In advanced cases, where surgery is not possible, chemotherapy or targeted therapy may be used to control the disease and manage symptoms.
