That's why I am starting a series of videos on the topic of visual misinterpretations of tennis technique or in short: tennis illusions.
If you've been a FeelTennis subscriber for a while then perhaps you remember a series of videos of pros where I had a racket digitally removed to show the difference between the arm and the racket movement in space.

This new series of videos is similar but not we'll focus just on smaller parts of tennis technique starting with the backswing.
As you'll see in today's video on the tennis forehand backswing illusion there is actually no backswing, just a short lift.
The reason why it's important to have a correct mental image of the stroke is because if you don't picture the stroke correctly in your mind you'll also execute it incorrectly.
Tennis strokes in general give an illusion that a lot of movements we do is done through the arm movement but as you'll see that's not the case.
