Dancing is a natural expression of our body, emotion and spirit. One dances to release energy, to communicate to the world our inner life, a way of regulating our thoughts and emotions and a way of expressing joy. There is a disconnect between ourselves and our dancing bodies in North America. Trauma can trigger this disconnect be it through personal, cultural or historical events. As well, our North American Culture dictates that the head is better than the heart, that the brain is more important than the body. This session lead by Michele Olsen (choreographer and dancer for Raven Spirit Dance) will discuss how movement and dance can be a key to health and offer perspectives on how to integrate it into our lives.
