There were a few more commercial blocks, but I decided to leave those in with the post-race show for the 1998 Daytona 500.
This clip starts about midway through Lap 197 and contains the last 2.5 laps as "20 years of trying, 20 years of frustration" ends for Dale Earnhardt as the Intimidator wins the Daytona 500 (also snapping a nearly 2-year drought of victories, this would also be the final victory for crew chief Larry McReynolds {Larry Mac - who had been the winning Daytona 500 crew chief in 1992 with Davey Allison - would be reassigned by Richard Childress to Mike Skinner's team at mid-season})
As the race ends under caution, we get a quick interview with Richard Childress before we see the post-race inspection to make sure everything was on the up and up before Earnhardt gets congratulated by everyone's pit crews (interrupting to do donuts in the infield) en route to Victory Lane. Awaiting him is CBS' Ken Squier (in his first Daytona 500 not in the booth after giving way to Mike Joy) who - after being congratulated by Teresa - does the interview; with Earnhardt (after congratulating a crew member who was a new father and dedicating the win to, among others, his father Ralph and close friend - and most of the CBS crew's one-time colleague - Neil Bonnett) feeling confident about possibly getting a record-breaking 8th championship (that prediction didn't quite pan out) and receiving the Harley J. Earl Trophy for winning the Great American Race.
Meanwhile, CBS' Dick Berggren interviews runner-up Bobby Labonte (who started on the pole and is holding son Tyler); while Bill Stephens interviews 3rd place finisher Jeremy Mayfield (who went out of his way to congratulate new Penske teammate Rusty Wallace) before Berggren catches up with a sore Ken Schrader (the 4th place finisher is shown wearing ice packs).
After a quick recap, Ralph Shaheen interviews Rusty Wallace (whose 5th place finish was his best Daytona 500 finish up to then) before Berggren catches up with Ernie Irvan (Irvan, the 1991 winner who was making his debut with the new MB2 Motorsports team, had welcomed his son Jared).
Then, Mike Joy teases the Pepsi 400 in Daytona, which would be the first Daytona race under the lights (with Dale Earnhardt getting the opportunity to test out the speedway's new lighting setup). The race - originally scheduled for Independence Day 1998 (since the Fourth of July fell on the race's normal Saturday race) - ended up being postponed until October 17 due to wildfires in Central Florida; and CBS, which had recently regained NFL coverage and also wanted to avoid competing with FOX's airing of Game 1 of the World Series, allowed the race broadcast to move to TNN (now Paramount Network).
We then get our final remarks from host Ken Squier, Mike Joy, Ned Jarrett and Buddy Baker before a tease of the Nagano Olympics (which is where the recording ends).
