NSW Premier Chris Minns is expected to announce on Thursday a six-point plan to combat a rise in domestic violence.
Government data revealed 143 people in the state have died in the past five years as a result of domestic violence.
In 2023, there were more than 35,000 recorded DV-related assaults and 21,000 incidents of intimidation and harassment.
The plan is set to involve putting greater focus on prevention, enhancing oversight, and boosting women’s economic safety and security.
A new advisory body has also been created, which will guide the government on future policy making.
