Learn about the Forest Bathing 'invitations' I'm planning on using in today's guided session in Crab Wood, Winchester.
Invitations are sensory-based mindfulness activities best done outdoors, and there are usually 5-6 in a 3-hour nature immersion experience. They help you use your senses and emotions to connect more deeply to nature, yourself and others.
Today I used:
The introductory sensory activation meditation (to heighten your senses)
Two sides to every story (noticing contrasts and opposites)
Befriending a bluebell
Who am I (wandering and wondering)
Future Story - a sit spot with the opportunity to travel 5-10 years into the future and write your present-day-self a letter (it could contain advice, kind words, affirmations, etc)
Bramble tea ceremony (we actually had nettle tea instead-even more delicious, I would argue).
And I wrote a poem too. When you spend 3 hours (and I'm there an hour before so it's 4 hours for me) moving slowly, quietly and mindfully around nature your creativity is heightened. There's no way I could write a poem like this normally. I'll share it in a future video.
After each invitation, we gather as a group once more, and share reflections, noticings, and experiences. It's a wonderful way of deepening the breadth of your own experience.
