00:00 Fill in gaps with cell above not working in Excel PowerQuery
00:16 Load list with gaps between data into PowerQuery
00:22 Fill down/ up not working- zeros/ blank cells stay the same
00:31 Fill up down MUST have nulls- not blanks/ zeros/ spaces. Only the word null
00:44 Replace the problem character with a null
01:06 Now fill down so nulls become the cell above
Understanding why Excel's fill gaps with cell above or below in Excel's PowerQuery is not working (and the same concept applies with normal Excel when using GoTo special blanks). Excel is very particular about what a blank is. In PowerQuery it is represented by a null. In Excel the cell may look blank, but be careful as sometimes the 'blank' cell contains a ' or space which looks blank but isn't. The trick is to change all these non blank cells to be proper blank cells and then use the feature to fill in the gaps with the above/ below cells.
