SMR Nuclear Technology Technical Director Tony Irwin has discussed the Coalition's nuclear energy plans.
It comes as Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has laid out details of the Coalition's nuclear energy policy in an address to the Committee for Economic Development on Monday.
Mr Dutton’s nuclear plans have included building seven nuclear reactors across five states and utilising existing sites of retiring coal-fired power stations.
“I thought it was good in that it brought together all the issues in one speech because we've had all these different parts of it and it brought it all together,” Mr Irwin told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“He made the five points about why renewables isn't working and we've seen increased prices with increased renewables, particularly in South Australia.
“Then he made the five points about why we must include nuclear in the mix and why other countries have successfully used nuclear and particularly because it's independent of the weather.”
