NOTE: The pricing in this video for the Launch Edition model is incorrect. After some back and forth and stuff that is beyond CarsGuide's control, Skoda Australia has now confirmed the price is $35,990 drive-away, not $36,990 drive-away as shown in this video. Sorry for any confusion.

The Skoda Scala could be called a small hatchback, or a small wagon. It doesn't really matter which camp you fall into when describing it - what you need to know is that it's a credible and compelling alternative to a small SUV.
With a large boot, big back seat space and plenty of practicality on offer, the Skoda Scala - which replaces the old Rapid Sportback hatch - is definitely a car worth considering. It's got similar underpinnings to the Volkswagen Golf, and you can feel that in the way it handles itself. Plus there's a VW engine under the bonnet, too - no matter which version of the Scala you choose.
The biggest competition for this car, though, will come from the Skoda Kamiq light SUV that sits below it, and the Karoq small SUV that's above it on price.
Which would you choose, and why? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
