Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson has questioned the security mechanisms of Parliament House after protesters managed to scale the roof and hang up pro-Palestinian banners.

“These are protesters, they don’t appear to have any violent intent, but if protesters can do this then someone with violent intent could also do this,” he told Sky News Australia.

“It is a very menacing thing to see these things hung from the front of the building.”
