This is a intraoperative video of an ankle exam demonstrating a positive anterior drawer on flouroscopy. This is a test performed to assess ankle instability and rupture of insufficiency of the ATFL (anterior talo-fibular ligament). During this exam, pressure is placed from the back of the heel and the leg is stabilized. In this video, there is too much laxity to the ankle showing instability to the ATFL. When this test is positive, the ankle is unstable due to insufficiency of the ATFL. This patient was in the operating room to have a primary repair of their ATFL. This surgery was performed by the physicians at the Foot, Ankle and Leg Specialists of South Florida in conjunction with the South Florida Institute of Sports Medicine, Weston, Florida.
