Launched globally on 7 February 2019, the new SRAM Red eTap AXS groupset is a complete rethink on bicycle components. The 12-speed arrangement has allowed the US company to introduce a 10-tooth cog on the rear cluster, thus reducing the size of the front chainrings... while essentially maintaining a similar roll-out to traditional gearing configurations.
RIDE Media will be posting a series of detailed reviews about the ASX – pronounced 'Axis' – in the coming weeks.
Part 1 is a simple overview: an unboxing of the key components, weighing each part, and having a quick glimpse before heading to the workshop to build it all to a Cannondale Super-Six Evo bike.
