This is a very easy and quick method to export any Google Earth data into excel.
If you have a list of points in Google Earth and want to manage their coordinates in excel, this video explains each step of this process.
1- create a folder with all the pin points in google earth.
2-Save the folder in kml format (not kmz).
3-Go to Ms Excel and click open (all files option).
4-Open the kml file in excel as an XML table.
5-The "name" Latitude and longitude columns are the names of the pins and the respective coordinates.
Save your file in kml format instead of kmz. Just choose kml from the drop down list. Excel will then open it as an xml file, you can either open it directly in Excel (choose *.* or type *.kml in the file type box), or rename it to .xml. You can also open the kml file with a text editor.
kmz files are simply compressed kml files which contain the kml file (doc.kml) and any extra files you've used, local image files, custom icons etc. You can open kmz files with a zip utility, though you may need to rename them to .zip first.
In Google earth you have an option to 'save as' whether it's just a single point or whole folder of points. You can save as a .kml or .kmz file which can be opened in excel. The formatting looks pretty nasty in excel, but you can make another sheet to target certain cells and easily filter the data. Hope that helps, it's hard to explain through words sometimes.
Create a new My Places group in Google Earth Pro.
Use the Create Placemark Tool to plot Placemarks in Google Earth
Name the Placemarks appropriately.
Right click on your My Places group with the Placemarks and select “Save Place As…”
Save as .KML file extension (Do not save as KMZ)
Run the “parse_kml.exe”
Select your recently created KML file.
Wait 2-3 seconds. An XML file will appear in the same directory as the parse_kml.exe location.
Import the new “googleearth_xml.xml” file into excel.6
Save Excel file.
