MOBILE, ALA. (WPMI) The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said cases lacking evidence are always tough to solve. But investigators say they have a new platform on their side, social media.
Pictures of 10 vintage stolen motorcycles were posted to the Team Sheriff Facebook page. It's a collection worth thousands of dollars.
"The victim had the motorcycles locked up in what he thought was a safe location," said Lori Myles, spokesperson for the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.
They were stolen from a storage unit last week. There's no surveillance video and investigators do not have any persons of interest. That is why they're turning to social media.
"Somebody saw this happen. Somebody is going to read this," said Myles. "And so the more information we can put out there the more information we'll get back."
This particular post has been shared over 70 times and has reached almost 20,000 people. It is just one of many cases investigators plan on solving with information from Facebook.
