Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan has ripped into the Barbie movie after actress Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig were snubbed from the Oscars in their respective categories.
The film was still nominated for eight awards, including Best Picture.
Actor Ryan Gosling, who plays ‘Ken’ in the film, expressed his disappointment at the Academy Awards after he was nominated for his supporting role.
“I thought the movie was awful; I thought it was man-hating, patronising, anti-patriarchy nonsense from start to finish,” Mr Morgan said.
“I didn’t think Margot Robbie, who I love and think is a brilliant actress, was very good in this.
“I thought he (Ryan Gosling) was the best of a bad bunch of acting performances.”
He added that Ms Gerwig is a good director but questioned why people thought she deserved a nomination for best director.
