From October through March during his childhood, Kyle Gibson was in church with his family every Sunday. But from March through October — baseball season — church sort of got in the way. He enjoyed being known as “Kyle Gibson the baseball player.”
However, at 15 years old while making a play at shortstop, he heard a ripping noise in his elbow. The injury required surgery and sidelined him for months. With some newfound free time, Kyle was able to go on a summer youth retreat for the first time — and he came back “drastically changed.” Kyle says he gained “a completely new perspective on life” and “something to base my life identity on.”
