SIN Canada Scam 5th call wasted over 20 minutes of the scammer's time..
Please do not list phone numbers in the comments, as the numbers are dynamic or are spoofed and can easily be assigned to legitimate users.
I noted the script was re-written, gone is the KIA Soul on the south border of Nunavut. Instead it's the south border of Canada. Over all much lazier script. The scammer still postures that he is a Federal Gov't employee and he knows more about Canada than a mere citizen. He did say the call was recorded by the State Court, I asked where .. he said Ottowa, I asked what state, Ottawa, Quebec, he said yes. I said I lived in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. He was pushing for me to go to my bank and withdraw the approximate $300K I had in the bank. I know there was no CIBC in Cambridge Bay, I said I had no intention of flying to Iqaluit.. He said Kalgen's Dis & Dat Convenience Store in Cambridge Bay would have a Gov't ATM (BitCoin..)
Scammers are saying your Social Insurance number (SIN) has been suspended because of suspicious activity, or because it’s been involved in a crime. Sometimes, the scammer wants you to confirm your SIN to reactivate it. Sometimes, he’ll say your bank account is about to be seized – but he’ll tell you what to do to keep it safe. (Often, that involves putting your money on gift cards and giving him the codes – which, of course, means that your money is gone.)
Here's what to know:
Your Social Security number is not about to be suspended. You don’t have to verify your number to anyone who calls out of the blue. And your bank accounts are not about to be seized.
Service Canada will never call to threaten your benefits or tell you to wire money, send cash, or put money on gift cards. Anyone who tells you to do those things is a scammer. Every time.
Never give any part of your Social Security number to anyone who contacts you. Or your bank account or credit card number.
If you get one of these calls, contact local law enforcement
I called back spoofing a CRA scammer phone number, and using my French-Canadian NYM Mange LeMerde (Eat Sh*t). Call ran 35 minutes. It fell apart when Orificer Austin White clearly was Googling my local CIBC branches and their hours. If I find that scam again I'll prepare a lot more. I'll use an address in Rankin Bay, Pond Inlet, Cambridge Bay or Resolute.. Just to see them Google a Walgreen in Canada's high Arctic!
But at the end of the day I wasted 21 minutes of their time on this call and 10 minutes, plus several "hit-&-run" calls from various of my other toys (TextNow, TalkOne, Google Voice & fireRTC) Just launched: [ Ссылка ] BobRTC
