After a healthy pregnancy, Mary and Evan’s son, Teddy, was born and diagnosed with a rare condition known as anorectal stenosis. The condition is a type of anorectal malformation, which affects about 1 in every 5,000 children. The diagnosis blindsided the new parents when they learned Teddy would require immediate surgery.
Mary and Evan hadn’t heard of the condition and didn’t know what to do or what to expect – luckily for them, our doctors did. Even though anorectal malformations are rare, the International Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care here at Children’s Hospital Colorado treats them every day.
