ROLAND MC-505 groovebox repair. LCD and potentiometers replacement with LOW COST spare parts. I used WC1602(A) LCD for replace. All schematics are easy to find in google. For 505 service manual check wikipedia.
Probably most of 2x16 alphanumeric LCD based on hd44780 controller will be working with MC-505.
You don't need to spend a lot of money on service or expensive spare parts. Price for this LCD is about 4-5 euro with yellow backlight and around 10 euro with blue backlight.

Be careful with AC high voltage! Always unplug unit from power!
Use multimeter, watch for bad connections, check schematics twice before do sth.
