In a thrilling Euro 2024 Group D match at Signal Iduna Park, France and Poland drew 1-1. Kylian Mbappe, donning a protective mask after breaking his nose in a previous game, scored his first-ever Euros goal from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, putting France ahead.
However, Poland equalized in dramatic fashion in the 79th minute when Robert Lewandowski, initially having his penalty saved by Mike Maignan, converted the retake after the French goalkeeper was ruled off his line.
The match saw France dominate possession and create multiple scoring opportunities, but Poland's resilient defense and goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski’s brilliant saves kept them at bay. Despite numerous chances, including a late attempt by Olivier Giroud, France couldn't secure the win.
The draw meant France finished second in Group D, with Austria topping the group after a 3-2 win over the Netherlands. Poland, already out of the tournament, earned a commendable point, with Lewandowski scoring in his final Euro 2024 appearance.
