Stretching is overrated for warm-ups!
Yes, you read that right.
While stretching has its place, it's not the be-all and end-all solution for tight muscles or the perfect warm-up routine.
Here's why:
Stretching doesn't address the root cause of tight muscles: strength imbalances or lack of strength around the joint (to name a couple).
This imbalance and compensation puts more stress on the joint, leading to discomfort and tightness.
Instead of stretching, focusing on building stability and strength can be a better remedy.
Direct core work and single leg/arm exercises (using slow tempos and pauses) are my go-to’s for my warm-ups.
So, next time you feel the urge to stretch out those tight muscles, at least hit the weights along with it.
