In this video, we'll explore the story of a little-known luthier named O.W. Appleton who claimed that in 1943 he brought a solid body, single cutaway, electric Spanish-style guitar he had made to show Gibson Guitars - almost 10 YEARS before they would put the Les Paul model into production! If the story is true, that means Gibson may have STOLEN his design without giving him credit. In light of the recent Mark Agnesi "Play Authentic" video controversy, it would not look good if true.
