Former foreign minister Alexander Downer has called on the UK Conservative Party to “starting thinking” through “what they stand for” following their election loss last week.
The Labour Party won the United Kingdom general election last week, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.
“They [the Conservatives] need to start thinking through what they stand for again.
“If they can do that successfully over the next couple of years, then they’ll start to rebuild public support.
“They lost a lot of public support by being so unsuccessful on handling the issue of immigration.”
