The first of five 7v7 tournaments hosted by GetSportsFocus in 2022 ended up being a memorable one for its GSF 5⭐️ squad with head coach Dante Funtila and Shawn Thomas. The boys in black put on a spectacular show throughout the day scoring on almost every possession on offense.
South Bay based Deliberate Training was the team to beat coming into the tournament with star players from all over the Bay Area. They had three entries in the tournament with the Elite team making the finals against the host of the tournament.
Freshman QB Marley Alcantara was on point in the finals earning himself the free IKE's Love and Sandwiches as the Finals MVP. Wideout Keagan Peterson of Montgomery got the finals Playmaker for his "sure hands" performance. Head coach Stephen Amoako received the championship plaque and highlighted the hard work his squad put in week in and week out to play the way they did.
GSF 5⭐️ QB Parker Threatt was the unanimous tournament MVP. He was the show master, the conductor of a team that went winless in the previous tournament to a 6-1 finish. Threatt is only a sophomore but he's also the leader of Coach Dante's squad.
In the end, DT Elite took GSF 5⭐️ to overtime and won the South Bay bragging rights.
