The most recent addition on the list of multiple time Absa Cape Epic winners - Matt Beers.
Since his first participation in the race, back in 2016, where he finished 21st, the lofty South African has steadily climbed his way up the GC standings.
His breakthrough performance in 2019, alongside Alan Hatherly, to win the Absa African category and take 5th on GC was a sign of what was to come.
Fastforward to October 2021 and to Beers lining up alongside Jordan Sarrou in the first Absa Cape Epic post pandemic.
The Specialized duo took the race by storm, racing to victory and finally adding Matt's name to the list of Absa Cape Epic winners.
Beers, now a marked man has lined up alongside Christopher Blevins in the last two editions of The Untamed African MTB Race. A 3rd place in 2022, marked health troubles, left Beers and Belvins hungry for revenge and in 2023 they got exactly that!!
With 5 stage victories and a final day charge on GC, Beers and Belvins won the 2023 Absa Cape Epic, reclaiming the Ciovita leader jerseys they wore on Stage 1.
