On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, NDTC brought together LGBTQ+ elected officials, activists, and leaders to discuss how Democratic candidates should strategically approach messaging around LGBTQIA+ rights. Our experts discussed ways to capture voter interest, discuss equality and gender identity, and respond to common questions or disinformation that will arise on the campaign trail. With moderation from, Blessitt S. Bryant, Senior Director of Digital Storytelling & Strategic Projects at Do Big Things and NDTC Trainer, panelists included:
Abigail Hays, Field Director and NDTC Trainer in Nashville, TN
Ben Labolt, Partner Bully Pulpit Interactive
Cesar Toledo, Deputy Political Director, LGBTQ Victory Fund
Charlotte Clymer, Writer and Activist
Representative Jessica González, Texas State Representative - House District 104
Senator Shevrin Jones, Florida State Senator - District 35
This panel is part of NDTC’s 2022 Build Blue Week. From June 6 through 10, we’re talking with progressive leaders all about how to message on key issues ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
