Speaker: Steven W. Barwick
Recorded on January 20, 2015.
The ARIANNA team braves the fierce wind chill of Antarctica to capture one of science’s most elusive prey: ghostly particles called neutrinos that could carry secrets from the depths of the universe. With its planned 1,296 detectors spread around the ice shelf, the ARIANNA telescope can detect high-energy neutrinos. UCI Physicist Steven Barwick is leading this international effort that will push the boundaries of neutrino physics to new limits. Visit ARIANNA's website for more info.
In this talk, Barwick will discuss the motivation and ongoing effort to develop a new astronomy exploiting the neutrino messenger.
