Highlights of JT Daniels and Mater Dei's 49-24 win over D.J. Uiagalelei and St. John Bosco in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship. Daniels threw for 299 yards and five touchdowns while Uiagalelei completed 20-of-21 passes for 172 yards and two scores. That year Daniels led Mater Dei wire-to-wire as the No. 1 team in the country while never trailing at any point during the 2017 season. He was named the MaxPreps National Football Player of the Year.
