Chaos in Seoul: Horrific Car Accident Caught on Camera – Nine Killed, Many Injured!
A car crash in Seoul, South Korea, killed at least nine people when a vehicle driven by a man in his 60s ploughed into a crowd near Seoul city hall around 21:30 local time (13:30 BST). The incident injured at least four others, who were taken to the hospital. The driver, who reportedly claimed the car suddenly accelerated, was arrested at the scene. Initial reports suggest the car was driving in the wrong direction and collided with two other vehicles before hitting the pedestrians. Six victims died at the scene, while three succumbed to their injuries later. The speed limit in urban areas of South Korea is 50 km/h (31 mph), with 30 km/h (19 mph) limits in residential zones. Despite a high percentage of pedestrian road deaths (35% in 2022), South Korea has seen a decline in overall road fatalities in recent years, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Police are investigating the crash, and casualty numbers may rise.
