How we did the Galapagos Low Cost 🐢
Most people know that the travelling to the Galapagos Islands can be a costly trip with their remoteness and unique ecotourism contributing to the high prices. But even budget conscious travellers like ourselves couldn’t resist exploring these extraordinary islands filled endemic animals.
So how did we cut our costs? Well the biggest expense was going to be accommodation with hotels ranging from $100-$300 USD per night. Our plan was to collaborate with hotels by exchanging our photography skills for a complimentary stay. This is something we have done many times in the past all over the world. Many hotels are always looking for fresh new photos of their rooms, content for their socials and a fresh set of eyes for ideas, but it’s tricky, especially in isolated locations like this to find professional photographers to come in.
That’s where we step in. With all the camera kit and know how to make their little piece of paradise glow. Collaborations like these benefit both sides so well. They get professional photos/videos of whatever they need and in turn save a tonne of dollars on a social media firm or photography agency coming in, and we get a place to lay our heads, reduce our travel costs and meet some amazing people along the way.
In the end we spent 12 nights, calibrating with 4 different hotels so how much do you think we saved?
