It will be a while until the snow run-off comes and even then it won't be too extreme on this section of the Provo River because it's a tail water; releases are controlled at the Jordanelle Dam. The day is cloudy which usually makes for excellent fishing unless the wind blows too hard. Worm patterns and midge pupae are dependable fly choices early in the season when hatches are scarce. Quite a few rainbow trout have come up from Deer Creek Reservoir and that makes fishing fast and easy. Brown trout , especially the big ones, are lost in the rainbow crowd. Lots of mountain white fish live in this section and take the right patterns readily but be sure to use very small flies , 16s,18s,and even 20s, because whitefish have little mouths. Some tiny blue winged olives hatch in the middle of the day, not many, but enough to bring trout to the surface.
